California speeding ticket fine amounts

How much will a California speeding ticket cost?

What does a CA speeding ticket cost?

Fine depends on how fast you were going….
For non-commercial vehicles, most speeding tickets have three tiers of fine based on how many MPH you were going over the limit and each ticket carries at least (1) point on your driving record if not eliminated.

The following price schedule will help you determine the fine amount:

  • 1-15 MPH Over: $238 + (1) DMV point
  • 16 - 25 MPH Over: $367 + (1) DMV point
  • 26+ MPH Over: $490 + (1) DMV point

VC22348B - Speeding Over 100 MPH Prohibited
This violation has a $900 fine and (2) DMV points.

  • 16 - 25 MPH Over: $525 + (1) DMV point
  • 26+ MPH Over: $648 + (1) DMV point

Fines increase to:

  • 1-15 MPH Over: $280 + (1) DMV point
  • 16 - 25 MPH Over: $409 + (1) DMV point
